Splash reducing lid fitted to a 25 gallon road trailer ( outlet tap not shown).
Hot bitumen is a material that must be handled with respect and care. No system
can be completely safe but this removes a huge amount of the risk from operators
throwing material into the boiler pan and getting splashed. It also reduces surges
This system was developed with assistance from civil engineers and surfacing contractors
and has been in production for over a quarter of a century. Copied but not equalled,
the FARVIS system is the original and most refined system. It is robust, easy to
use, easy to clean and can be transferred to a replacement boiler, so you don't have
to write off the unit when the boiler wears out or the pan needs to be replaced.
To use, place material in the upper hopper, close the lid and pull the handle - the
boiler is recharged with minimal risk of splashing and spills.
The system has a built in fire snuffer and the hopper unit is self cleaning. The
upper lid has a latch to seal it shut for transport and the entire unit can be removed
in a few minutes for inspection and cleaning.
