FARVIS
1878 Fairbairn Steam crane. Designed to lift 35 tons. In regular use until 1973.
Now restored and preserved in working order.
The old steam crane is on the left. The Docks are now used for pleasure boating and leisure. In the mid 1950s this area would have been full of merchant vessels.
One of the later cranes - by the same manufacturer. Also redundant but preserved at the City Industrial Museum. At one time there was a plan to use the control cabin as an office .. not fun climbing up to it on a wet day. The idea was was soon forgotten.
